Gothic 1 Remake lockpicking can get annoying fast if you are trying to save ore, lockpicks and LP.

Useful before Scatty's chest or the swamp camp recipe chest.
If you are choosing between combat LP and lockpicking LP, I would check the chest route first. Early ore is tight, so Scatty's chest and the swamp camp recipe chest are where the skill starts to matter.
